What is the Price of a Home Lift?

Many people think that the price of a home lift is very high, but that is a misconception. A home lift really does not have to be that expensive and it is a smart investment that adds great value to your home.

To give you a rough idea, a 2-floor home lift has a starting price of about 23 000-25 000 €. Basically, that means that if you can afford to purchase a new kitchen, you can afford to buy a home elevator. In addition, if you need a wheelchair lift for accessibility reasons, in many countries your local council offers subsidies that you can apply for to install a lift at home, like the DFG (Disabled Facilities Grant) for residents of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, for example.

On this page we give you some useful tips on what to think about when purchasing a lift and examples of pitfalls to avoid, when comparing lift types and prices.

Home Lift Price: Ask for a Quote

To give you a realistic price estimate, we always advice you to answer a few questions before sending us your quotation request:

  1. Does the lift need to accommodate a wheelchair?
  2. How many floors will the lift serve?
  3. How big is the available space for the lift (w x d, mm)?
  4. What is your ceiling height (headroom, mm, per floor)?
  5. What accessories do you need (For ex. automatic door openers, floor indicators and child locks)?

If you like, you can prepare your answers and include them in the message field of the request form below.

Home Lift Price Comparison

Always make sure that the price comparison is fair when comparing home elevators of different types and brands.

  • Are the same costs and services included in the price (for ex. delivery costs and installation services)?
  • Are the lift types comparable?

For example, stairlifts have a lower price point than vertical elevators for residential use. However, the comfort level, usability and value added to your home differ so much between a vertical lift and a stairlift that a simple price comparison becomes unfair.

Total Cost of Buying a Home Lift

As aforementioned, it is important to make a fair price comparison. Given that some costs may be hidden, there are some pitfalls to avoid, for example, you should always:

  1. Check that all lift quotes include transport costs.
  2. Make sure that all quotes include installation costs.
  3. If your lift needs a masonry/concrete shaft, ask if the construction cost is included.

To minimise your construction costs, all residential lifts by Kalea are ready-made and most lift models even include a prefabricated lift shaft. Our lift prices always include transport and installation costs.

Running Costs of Home Elevators

The purchasing price is one thing, but the running costs of a residential elevator are also important to consider:

  1. Check the Energy Label and energy consumption of your lift.
  2. Ask about the estimated yearly maintenance costs.
  3. Compare the estimated product lifetime of the different lifts. If your lift lasts for a long time, so will your investment.

Most home lift models by Kalea are available with optimised drive systems that allow our lifts to carry Energy Label A. Furthermore, our robust and reliable screw-driven technology requires less lift maintenance than other systems and has an estimated lifetime of about 25-30 years.
